African Tech Startup Of The Week
Gamr is an e-sports and gaming app platform that connects the African gaming ecosystem and provides access to intercontinental tournaments.
Gamr was founded by Seyi Fakoya, Eniola Edun, and Kunmi Adenipebi with the goal of accelerating and encouraging inter-country engagement and competition across Africa while advocating e-sports culture.
The company is committed to growing the African esports industry by promoting gaming culture, facilitating seamless intercontinental collaborations, and organizing renowned global tournaments for Pan-African gamers, sports fans, and entertainment enthusiasts. Since its inception in 2020, the community has grown from 2,400 to 67,000 members spread across 13 African countries: Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, Algeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Somalia, Uganda, Zambia, Cote D' Voire, and Egypt.
Gamr was recently selected for the Black Founders Fund together with other 60 African founders and was the only startup focused on gaming and esports.
